Raven or Crow

FallingAwake2

Raven or crow?
A friend or foe?
Omen or chance?
I’m fraught not to know.

Places I go,
Always, they show–
Stalking the trails,
Watching my window.

Wraith audio,
Closing echo–
One lurks above,
Croaking its solo.

Drenched in shadow,
Still there’s this glow–
Its eyes caution,
But what could it know?

So, I forgo,
Risks to lay low–
On edge, I scan,
And wait for the blow.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This one is loosely about PTSD and the hypervigilance associated with it.... the feeling of always looking over your shoulder and waiting for something bad to happen. Thanks for reading; cheers! I've been seeing a ton of crows or ravens lately! A ton!

Thanks for the author note it makes sense of the poem. Well written it oozes with detail of this ailment and its hypervigilance. Nicely done
