If I had a Time Machine

Ella-1427

If I had a time machine, I would travel back to when I first met you.

I would go back and see how young we were

I would look at 2 strangers and know how much they’ll mean to each other down the line.

And I would go to the start of our friendship, when we were filled with bliss.

I would think about where we are now and I would start to smile;

I would smile seeing where we started and where we are now.

But mainly I would stay there.

I wouldn’t come back so that I could have more time with you.

Because I hadn’t realized how vital you had become to me.

A vitality that silently runs through my veins,

Flowing through not only my heart, but also my soul.

Bringing serenity to me, all through my nights and days.

But I don’t have a time machine.

So I'm stuck in the now, where our paths start to verge on separate ways.

And I carry with me all of our memories that we have made.

I’m stuck with myself in this moment,

Where I am still here and you are still there.

But eventually, I’ll still be here. And you’ll be there.

That is quite sad, ships in the night come to mind.
I think we would all want to go back in time to rectify things.
