Oh, How I Long To Be A Cat

jenny.g

Insightful, steely eyes would track

From high up in the tree

Reading intentions

And getting your number

Without you noticing me

Affection would be on my terms

With my decree only

Lightening reactions

Would keep me safe

So fast that I could flee

If somehow you manage to swerve my defences

Back me against a wall

My razor teeth

And deathly claws

Would be my final call

This disappointing human form

Will fail me in a brawl

My clumsy limbs

And muted wits

Are just no good at all

Nicely done, your poem explores the tension between instinctual animalistic traits and the limitations of human form. It conveys a sense of vulnerability and the struggle for survival, emphasizing the instinctual need to defend oneself in a world that can be threatening.

a fun read that speaks to me of improved defenses with the reactions and weapons of a cat. With less needs for affiliation the life would be easier. Well written
