Who are you performing for?

Neilton

Who are you performing for?

Did you tell the foe your woe,

and he left you all distraught?

Was your infamy their fault

And you punished them once and for all?

You took the law into your own hands

and carried out your revenge plan.

But who are you performing for?

When you spoke to Him in fear,

didn’t He dry all your tears?

Didn’t you pray with all your heart,

and He never left you in the dark?

When you called His name out loud,

did you realize you had found Him?

When you saw the shining star

guiding you through forsaken lands,

reaching out a helping hand,

giving you a millionth chance

was it all just luck?

Or the One who never turns His back?

Did you think it was your pride

that made the sacrifice worthwhile?

Or His mercy on our plight,

in our times of distress,

even when we tend to forget?

So who are you performing for?

For yourself, or for the foe?

For the foe, or for God?

Come and sit alone.

If your performance

is worth more

than the salvation of the soul.

Come on.

Fight back.

Tell the foe

there is no place

where he belongs.

Take out your claws

Make him regret

What you'll never forget.

Make him feel unworthy of love,

abandoned, and forlorn.

Smile at your victory in war,

at the destruction of your foe.

But who are you performing for?

Then cry out to Him

for not listening in your need.

Then fall down on your knees,

exhausted by your sins.

Let your so-called freedom

swallow you whole in sleep.

Who are you performing for?

Such a good question that all need to ask most of us perform for friends, family, the law to be seen as something special that we feel we are not. Well written
