Isaac

Syd

[Verse 1]

He likes to sit indoors
His muscles waste away
Choosing algorithms over sunshine
Squandering his days

The light he sees is artificial
The air he sucks is stale
Skin as bleached as paper
A whiter shade of pale

Eyes twitching like a reptile
As the fluorescent light flickers
Dust in the crevices of the keyboard
Steadily growing thicker

[Chorus]

Isaac doesn't heed the warnings
No Isaac doesn't care
Indifferent to sunlight
Or his eyes going square

Blissful in his ignorance
His only defence
He thought there could be actions
Without consequence

[Verse 2]

His fingers begin to fragment
Wiring starts to split the skin
A body striving for efficiency
Evolution from within

His pupils glaze over
His irises flash with LED lights
There's no stopping this transformation
Try as he might

His teeth mesh together
His jaw clenches shut
A chrome sheen envelopes his skull
Now he'll never rust

His headphones begin to morph
To his skull they fuse
Cocooning his ears completely
For this is their only use

He's now one with his computer
Never needing to leave the room again
Now streamlined and sterile
Permanently jacked in

[Chorus]

Isaac doesn't heed the warnings
No Isaac doesn't care
Indifferent to sunlight
Or his eyes going square

Blissful in his ignorance
His only defence
He thought there could be actions
Without consequence

[Verse 3]

His mother is oblivious
Blissfully unaware
A tea tray in her hands
As she starts to climb the stairs

She pushes through the door
Into a room that is a hovel
And is met with such a sight
Straight from a science fiction novel

Her shrieks pierce the air
The tea tray falls from her grip
Her whole body shakes with horror
Trembling from toes to fingertips

[Final Chorus]

Isaac doesn't heed the warnings
No Isaac doesn't care
Indifferent to sunlight
Or his eyes going square

Blissful in his ignorance
His only defence
He thought there could be actions
Without consequence

If any adolescents hear this
Who like to waste away their days
Take heed of this graphic warning
Go outside and play!
