FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND  1 by Semen Kirsanov

Ksey_Gan

In the Beginning

At first, there was neither

sea,nor you, nor sand;

the mist breathed,

the clouds grew  bend.

Who, then, created us?

How did the world come to be?

Who parted the ocean glass?

Where'd the girl come from been?

Perhaps,

a Seahorse

carried you here, jane.

You,

sitting between its wings,

clung to the spines—to the fishy points

of its prickly mane.

You—

opening your eyes,

vast as the horizon—

gazed upon the world, the sea, and the sand.

And I

was created

so that here, on the shore,

I might suddenly see you.

And the ocean

was created

so that, shimmering before you

with a multitude of mirrors,

it might pave the way for you.

And the airplane

was created

so that, trumpeting with four engines,

it might carry me

and set me down in that world

where they had just created your coception…

And before you—

perhaps—

there was no one only,

And the world was created solely

to bring you into being

and reveal you being.
