FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND 2 by Semen Kirsanov

Ksey_Gan

You have such eyes.

You have such eyes.

as if each had two pupils,

like at the newest cars.

At night, from highway to highway,

cars fly past,

roaring,

with two pairs of headlights.

You have double eyes—

enough for two faces—

and the whole ocean shines.

from multiplied by two. eyes

Understand:

your eyes—

as a map of the two earthly hemispheres.

When you close them once,

the Equator plunges into night there.

But when I ask to open them,

lie two blue Poles

within them in the instant

of arrival…

They say eyes are the mirror of the soul and so it would seem. Nicely written
