It was a Wednesday, we had some drinks beforehand,
Tickets were booked as my first gig ever was planned.
Amy Winehouse was singing at the Aintree Pavilion,
Things seemed much simpler back then, by a million.
She cancelled initially, just hours before the show,
Came back a couple weeks later to give it another go.
A great and enjoyable watch she was, July 4th of 2007,
On that night people lived carefree, in a kind of music heaven.
Passed away a few years later, on the day after my birthday,
Wish you were still here Amy and didn't leave Earth in that way.

Great story and tribute to singer Amy Winehouse. Excellent write!
Thank you!
Music such a lovely art and when added to poetry in song it lifts the soul. Amy quite a star that went out too soon like many others. A very nice tribute in this poem well done
Cheers (: yes indeed.
Cheers
I've not been gigging myself. lol.
I have...and you can ask P...he knows. He keeps insisting it’s glugging...but I have to correct him. "Gigging, man...gigging. Wipe your chin...there’s, yeah...green...stuf...Got it? Good. 👍" That Popeye is totally incorrigible. One cannot even contain him to just our threads any more. The glugging goes on! LOL!
Sorry in advance Shaun...🤣
Shaun...this hit hard and close to home. I love Amy. There’s something especially painful about remembering someone through a night that once felt so alive and carefree, knowing how the story ended. You can really feel the gratitude and grief sitting side by side in this. Tormented as she was, she was a beautiful soul and a brilliant artist. A child of God, even if mental health and drugs clouded that for her as it has so many others, myself included. I just thank God you and I are still here to realize it and witness that to others. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thanks pal, yes it is a shame what happened to her.
A justified tribute.
