FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND 3 by Semen Kirsanov

Ksey_Gan

I Am White

I am white,

For beloved fiancé,

I am chalk—

which once was sea,

and held both fish and birds,

and turned white.

I am the Period Cretaceous.

In the depths,

there are shell-prints upon me.

My very palm—

even that

is but the imprint of an antediluvian leaf.

And you are the beginning badge

You are the flight of dragonflies.

You are the splash of flying fish.

You are the sky of the first thunderstorms.

You are life just now beginning.

You are a rainbow Seven-colored.

You’re the first prism.

This is the top that is missing from my eyes.

It's water and silver hair.

This is where you want to go or fly.

And I am the deep chalk,

Within my soul—

clichés of dragonflies, of fish, and birds of yore.

Sweeping aside the stones with a joyful hand,

upon the white me

read this:

“I loved you tightly!”
