To Me From Me

Alex Arnot

This beautiful thing you see in haze.

What you hate when sober, becomes perfection in my gaze.

It's enough, it's always been.

Sure it can improve, but that's given.

No boon of the future shall invalidate your present.

And now I present you with something to ponder.

If a drunk man's speech is a sober man's thought,

Then why do you deny my affection for you.

Strange that poison cures your disdain

For all that you are and what you will be.

Take heed of my words so that soon you won't need me.

For all to see, this is my love for thee.
