Suddenly
Suddenly
I am the same age,
as you may,
nimble at riding a bicycle,
at play,
at walking,
and—everywhere lucky.
Leaving barefoot footprints in the sand
for archaeologists and the ages,
we run toward the rising tide.
We plunge into the Ocean wide
We have resolved to swim across the Strait.
Swimming alongside us, vertically,
A marine question mark, basecly,
or a chess knight with sward,
upon which you arrived in the world.
Oh, how new it feels
to be the same age as you!
Here we are, alone—
an underwater love a few
amidst corals and dim, massive rocks.
We dive once more as flock!
We swim amidst jellyfish and fish,
amidst needles and stars!
And pink hands in the depths,
like seaweed,
reach out toward to my flesh,
Studdenly,
I am the same age
as you. I wish…
