Our Country may not be perfect; many battles and scars she has. If you stop and look around for just a second, you will see all that’s bad. Our Fathers before us laid their very lives on the line in wars many don’t understand. Hoping and praying all along to save their fellow man. Our country is still Home to each and every one of us; we’re all different this is true that’s why; In God We Trust. Our country is divided on everything; what’s it going to take? Why don’t we just come together and be the difference we want made? I’m not saying to no longer stand your ground. What I am saying is really get to know someone with a different perspective than yours; there’s much to be found. I know this isn’t easy as some make it quite impossible. But if read that word again, it says I’m possible. America πΊπΈ is still our home whether we love her or not. Be the difference you want to see; there’s a place to start. Without the hate and violence. That’s not what our brave men and women fought so hard for; there’s got to be a better a way to get to our nations core. United we stand. We the people that is; divided we fall; there’s no pain greater than this. I don’t have all answers. Things sadden me more than anyone can fully comprehend. But I love my country; and she can thrive again. What will it take? Are you truly asking me? My heart tells me we need God; and the courage to believe. I’m far from a perfect writer; nor a perfect woman at that; but I love my country and there’s nothing wrong with that. She’s been through the fire; she’s been damaged and scared; now pause a second… can’t we as humans relate? What about our very hearts? Yet we Rise time and time again; so can America πΊπΈ but We The People must remember what it truly means to be American πΊπΈ

- Comment from author about the poem: I remember coming together no matter what? If we can do that again; maybe just maybe Our Country can thrive once more. I know thereβs terrible violence these days I see all thatβs going on; I hold onto hope that it will get better although I know in my core it may not. America use to stand so tall and she bounced back from everything; I donβt know whatβs changed or why. I just believe she can thrive once more if we work together.

A wonderful wish and hope. It usually takes a tragedy to put our differences aside. Well written.
A hope one holds onto although one knows better. Thank you π
You are most welcome Sharon
I wish you (and the rest of the world) luck...
Good write GS.
Sharon, this comes from a deeply sincere place...and that sincerity is what carries the piece. Beneath all the frustration and division youβre describing, thereβs still hope here for people to actually listen to one another again instead of tearing each other apart. βBe the difference you want to seeβ feels like the heartbeat running through the whole write. Powerful piece, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
If only it could be so . Iβm not foolish; I know better.
