Bringing your authentic self
to any situation
runs the very likely risk
of soul exasperation!
Keeping up appearances
has its benefits
and saves the ego from the likely
disappointment fits.
So build that wall, and build it high
and keep your heart secure
and in the lonely silence note
your spirit, cold and pure.

Well said. Your poem explores the tension between authenticity and the desire to maintain appearances: that being true to oneself can lead to emotional exhaustion, while putting up emotional barriers might protect the ego at the cost of genuine connection and warmth.
Thank you! Being a human is hard sometimes 🥺
You're welcome; I assure you, my friend, that I understand your sentiments precisely, and being human can be challenging.❤️
Well written a poem of conflict between the is and the desired. Well done
