Listen-Process-Understand

Anthony Hanible

Listen

I know my words came out unkind

A little too sharp

A little misaligned

And I can hear the echo now

Of what I never meant to say

I wasn’t trying to bruise you

But the hurt still found its way

Process

The weight of it

The sting of it

The way your silence told the truth of it

I’ve sat with what I caused

Let the guilt ring through

And every thought keeps circling back

To how I should’ve cared for you

Understand

I’m sorry

Plain

Unhidden

True

No twist

No clever metaphor to cut through

Just me owning the moment

I mishandled your heart

Wishing I’d listened softer

Instead of pulling us apart

So here’s my vow

Quiet but sincere

To speak with more gentleness

The next time you’re near

To hold your feelings carefully

To honor what they mean

Because hurting you was never

What I wanted to be seen

A poetic apology set in good lines heartfelt and well done

  • Tasha Green

The sincerity in your words is most heartfelt honest. An apology that can be recognized and appreciated from within oneself.
