Just a wish.
I have held this quiet hunger in my chest,
A map of wishes folded in the dark,
To find a soul to put my fears to rest,
And fan into a flame a singular spark.
Not someone who would look away in shame
When I am tangled in my awkward ways,
Or stutter when they have to speak my name,
Or judge the jagged edges of my days.
I want the kind of mirror, soft and deep,
Who sees the messy, unrefined design,
Who has a promise they intend to keep—
To let their rhythm settle into mine.
To sit beneath the sprawl of afternoon,
With no pretense, no masks we have to wear,
To laugh until we’re breathless at the moon,
And find that being "me" is enough to share.
It is a simple prayer, a gentle plea,
No grander prize beneath the sun above:
A friend who walks the crooked path with me,
Accepting all I am with steady love.

A beautiful wish for what should be not too much to ask. Well written in clarity and good flow with good rhyme it seems a reasonable request. In an imperfect world it is as rare as hen's teeth. Very nicely written and a fave
Good write F.
