Tongues of Fire

Fränz Müller

Do you praise and curse

with your same mouth?

It should not be so!

James was right,

and so he said

in that letter long ago.

Words can build

and words destroy

depending on our mood;

but we should aim

to avoid that blame

when we choose to be rude.

A gentle word

a bit of light

can change a person’s day;

shouldn’t we

be kind, you see?

There is a better way!

    Well written. Your poem advocates for kindness and the conscious choice to use gentle words to positively impact others, aligning with the biblical teaching from the Book of James about the importance of controlling one's speech.

    Fränz, this feels like the perfect Pentecost poem, my friend. A reminder that the same tongue can either bless or wound is about as timely and Spirit-filled as it gets. There’s such warmth and wisdom in the simplicity of this. Wonderful write. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
