Moonlight

Neil Higgins

In the hush of scorching sun and verdant embrace,

Amidst the laughter of children.

Wrapped inside magic,

Whose presence lingers in the season’s mind.

In shimmering air.

A transient shadow.

Silent.

Whispering.

Its essence becomes entwined,

With laughter, blossoms, and sweet lemonade,

A spectral harmony, neither seen nor defined,

Yet palpable memories.

And as the sun sinks, painting skies ablaze,

This summer ghost emerges.

Waltzing through fireflies’ ephemeral haze,

A phantom ballad, secrets safely sheathed.
