When I was younger I was told that children are the future of the world. So tell me.. what happened to our boys and girls? Some are so deeply wounded that the pain they feel is being acted out. Others have buried it so long that they’re not sure if it’s safe to let it out. What happened to the future generation of great accomplishments and change? Why is it on the news that all we see and hear is nothing but pain or rage? When I was much younger I was taught; “you can be anything you want to be.” Just stay inside the lines. Become invisible. Don’t let your light shine too brightly. That was the lesson never taught. Our kids have learned it much sooner than I. But there’s a better way to cope with pain. You don’t need to run and hide. Nor do you have to cause harm to another soul. Run to our Heavenly Father instead. Let Him teach you how to let it go. Our Children are indeed the future and we need to do better by them all; there’s power in coming together; rather than watching each other fall.

It seems so for each generation and whether it is true or not history will tell. A wonderful write that has good internal rhyme as well. I have my own ideas on this but no proof to validate them.
Sharon, this carries a real ache for the younger generation and the contradictions they inherit. The tension between being told to shine while simultaneously being taught to disappear comes through painfully clearly here. Thereβs genuine compassion and concern at the center of this piece. Strong work, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
