Second Spring

Gaurav Gurung

Under tensions of the nostalgic gray
But still drenched in your passion
What is commanding me to love?
What is this second Spring that flows
Through all of my body like it craves
That kiss, That touch, That gaze

Oh it cries out to you every night
It howls and lunges towards its horizon
And yet somehow the dark night befalls,
Casts its harrowing fate that locks me in
Leaving me heavier than a lover's sorrow
But a single gaze dilutes the gray into
white

An odd peace on which I base my home
With gardens of welcoming buds
A smile that feels like paradise and
A face that breezes across continents
An eye that casts colors of comfort
Over the surface of rough mediocrity

And to be one with such a wonder
Would certainly fill the half of this poet
That feels abandoned and serves corpses
But nothing is eternal for this desert too
Welcomes fishes that promise to stay
And swim along caverns that are but dead.
