A strict regimen and diet
A boxer making the weight cut
Weeks of calorific deficiency
Shrinking the liver and gut
A long list of potential side effects
From this alien metallic device
A foreign implant in my abdomen
With my health I roll the dice
The wonders of modern medicine
Science fiction becomes science fact
Precision laparoscopic surgery
Along the gastrointestinal tract
Iodine and a tourniquet
I'm told I have good veins
The needle punctures precisely
I watch the velvet drain
Anaesthetised, inflated
Blown up like a frog
The skillful surgeon slices neatly
With his scalpel playing God
To an almighty I never believed in
Sending feeble prayers to the sky above
Bestow me with your mercy
Demonstrate your love

The plus's and negatives of medicine and its attempted cures. Very nicely written
