Inkling II

Eugene S.

Where will it begin
That one event that changes it all
That causes all to fall from the graces in a civilized society
When crystalline stars decend from a heavenly night
From skies oblivious to all that matters below
Shards sharp as knives to feed the crimson sands
And send man to the destiny he chose
When will it end
The event that erases it all
That was called so very long ago
To befall all we have ever known
That grew from sands that were sown in antiquity
Oh, will time find pity for we
We who stole the future an forgot the price of it all
A thunder from the recesses of a cavernous hall
Amplified by the closing walls that surround us all
What will be the state of reality
When the chimes announce that final call
No doubt that we, society, will be in awe, if we even be at all

Who can stand before his indignation?

Well said. Your poem addresses existential themes of societal collapse, fate, and humanity's relationship with the universe.
