As an older sister,
I hold but one fear.
Does she know I miss her,
She knows not how dear -
In my heart I carry,
Her future worries that may be.
I pretend that all is merry,
Is there a shadow to see?
The one I make as I leave,
My back turned once again.
What past will her mind weave?
Will she grow to be my friend?
So young and left behind,
This plagues my mind.
It is her smile and laughter,
These memories I am after.
She may only see a closed door,
The broken heart I hold together.
Waiting for the day to see me more,
My sister she is forever.
"Don't leave me" in the night she whispers.
A brave face and promises of tomorrows.
The heart taped is in splinters,
In my suitcase I take with both our sorrows.
I thought the plane's jets,
Would fly my pain elsewhere.
Can't tear myself away, not yet -
We are together somewhere.
Someday,
I promise little sis
