You Verse Me

NGUMO

You Verse Me

You are not broken

You are not alone

You have never been without

You have only been unseen

You have carried what was heavy

You have held what others dropped

You have walked when roads disappeared

You have survived what tried to end you

You are the storm that stayed standing

You are the wound that learned to speak

You are the night that refused morning

You are the love that still believes

We have all been here before

We have all knelt at the same altar

We have all bled the same silence

We have all called it by different names

This is not my poem

This is yours

This is not my story

This is the one you never told

You verse me

And I verse you

And together we are

The language the world forgot
