Grieve It Not

mohammad ali

O’ Joseph lost will sure return to Kanaan*, grieve it not!
The hut of grief will once be flower garden, grieve it not!
O grieved the heart, you’ll soon be well, yourself to lose, so what?
Distraught this head will once be set in order, grieve it not!
On throne of grass if spring of life is long enough, you’ll spread
The flower shade ov’r head, O sweet-voiced bird, so grieve it not!
Though turn of wheel against our wish, some two days kindly not,
The state of time will not be all the same, O’ grieve it not!
Of world of secrets not aware, beware and hopeless not!
Behind the scene are always hidden games, so grieve it not!
O heart, if flood of doom uproots the whole existence but
Yours Noah helmsman sure in ship, for storms, then, grieve it not!
In desert, eager if you step towards Ka’ba** and much
Reproof the thorny bushes make against you, grieve it not!
The way to house though much of danger, end of path so far,
No path is there that hath no end, be hot and grieve it not!
Separated now from sweetheart, mood against the rivals, but
Our mood-revolving God would wholly know, O’ grieve it not!
A corner poor, alone at dim nights, Hafez! Yet, until
Your whispers prayers, lesson of Koran is, grieve it not!
