THE LEGACY OF MANKIND

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

When night ends
Dawn revived
Dried the tears
Mankind cried
Its cheeks of red
Its skin now dry
Eternity blinked
An unforgiving eye.

In self destruction
With acid clouds
Mans reluctance
Ignorant and loud
His rivers dried
To infested pools
His arrogance
Self denying fools.

Silent desolation
His legacy left
Upon the now
Quiet steps
Of a tainted Earth
Withered and still
Mans great achievement
How to kill.

    A fine write N.
A legacy from hundreds of years ago, but now gone for ever? A bus appeared, that is! lol.

This one snuck up on me and for the message and surprise that at the same time is so true a fave. Loved this one Norman very well done

Norman, what struck me most is the image of eternity blinking an unforgiving eye. It creates the sense that humanity's actions are being viewed against a much larger backdrop, one that cannot be deceived by excuses or denial. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Ohhh, so many questions in life - such as: will the bus ever arrive? what route number will it be? how long have we been waiting for it now?! etc. lol.
