Power To Overcome The Devil

Anthony Hanible

I learned the power
By seeking God’s presence
Quiet rooms
Soft prayers
Open hands

I learned the power
By speaking scripture
Until the air around me
Shifted

I learned the power
By surrendering my will
Letting God’s strength
Replace my own

I learned the power
By asking for the Spirit
The fire that fills
Every empty place

I learned the power
By believing victory
Was already mine
Before the battle began

And now I use the power
Not gently
Not timidly
But like someone
Backed by heaven

I use the power
When the devil whispers
And I answer
With truth

I use the power
When temptation rises
And I shut the door
Before it speaks twice

I use the power
When darkness circles
And I stand firm
Until it breaks

I use the power
When fear tries to return
And I remind it
Who I belong to

This is my power

Not mine alone
But mine through Him
The power to rise
The power to resist
The power to overcome the devil
Every single time
