Silence

Cindy

I love the way the silence sits

On the edges of my mind,

And its feet are caught within

The breeze of hollowness inside.

I love the way it speaks to me,

The way its presence soothes my heart;

And though it may trigger my thoughts,

It always sculpts it into art.

It would sit beside my nightstand,

Chat and ask about today.

It would tidy up the mess my mind

Had made throughout the day.

I’ll tell it about my worries

And all the questions in my head;

It says that’s tomorrow’s duty,

As it tucks me into bed.

I love the sound the silence makes,

Ringing softly in my ears,

And the way its voice calms me

Of all my shadows’ darkened fears.
