Good write T. We're always bracing ourselves for the sound of the next glug, but it always seems to make us jump, and be jumpy! lol.
The words single file, trial, dial all bring images of being caught dominated into uniformity, judged, amplified and then the word hurt for a while pain and suffering not even quick electrocution. It is dystopian and dark with a promise of getting worse. Bad news on the doorstep. Well written my friend
