Who gets to kiss this mortal spark?

Anas Merchant

Oh lord this light, unknown and bright
Illuminates the ocean's dark
Belongs to whom, do shed some light
Who gets to kiss this mortal spark

Desire of a poet's pen
A bridal dress of paper made
Oh envy of seven heavens
Who gets to hear whats never said

Oh heat of june, half of the moon
So much to hide, so much to show
A little now, a little soon
I'll kiss the hand which made you so

Oh tidal wave, you took and gave
A little rain a little dew
my love why would you now behave
As if this innocense is new

Cup-bearer won't pour me the drink
The cleric preaches abstinence
The world is truly on the brink
Hypocrisy and ignorance

Delay this time, and hour long
Why do the planets have to move?
Oh beauty whom do you belong?
Beyond the time the time will prove

  • Comment from author about the poem: Again im trying to make something as sonorant and fluid as flowing water through a warm stream. i wish to create poetry which begs to be read aloud not just to be read in a quiet recluse of someone's basement! read this a loud to feel the actual flow!
