I WRITE TO HEAVENS FOR THY NATION (X)
Dear Heavens,
ten days has move
faster than a train.
I have written to you
of a nation that is clothed with abundance.
of their tears that has been worn as garment,
of Children who now dwell on hope and faith.
of the blood that stained our Soil.
of leaders who has forgotten their responsibility
of youths who refused to be like a grave yard.
of mothers who now carry pains
like their Second Chance.
of Children who left home
Searching for tomorrow that may
never Come.
Dear Heavens,
I write my final letter.
not because the pain has ended
But because our faith remains.
I know a nation cannot bleed forever,
people cannot cry forever,
Night cannot stay forever,
For they shall be morning.
So I plead with hope
that heavens
heal thy nation,
For they know no Joy.
amend the broken pieces of thy nation,
let peace drive through thy street daily
let Justice be a symbols of identity
In thy Nations gate Again.
let hope return
to thy Children's room
tear down the garment of Sorrow
from our body.
And put up a cloth of dignity.
let the Soil that drinks our blood
produce to us Joy and Peace.
And when history speaks
of Nigeria,
Let it not speak of the wound they once
carried.
but of the healing of their wound
For I still believes in thy nation
beneath the pain
warmth lies
beyond the darkness
light leads
After Every Storm,
dawn shall Come.
So today I fold each letter
In heavens hands
And I wait Patiently
for thy Answer.
Oh read this letter
for thy nation bleeds.
