I wish I could speak as poetically as I write,
I wish I could write as obsessively as I think,
I wish I could draw as vividly as I imagine,
I wish I could imagine as colorful as life,
I wish I could live like a fairy in a dream,
I wish I could be better in the world I'm in,
I wish I could smell the essence of a life well lived,
I wish I could have been careless and louder,
I wish I could have been enough,
I wish I could have said what came to my head,
I wish I could be more than a mere struggling soul,
I wish I could go above and beyond,
And all I ever do is wish.

We all tend to wish after the fact of doing or saying something.
This is why I get gagged when I'm out, cos I always say the wrong thing which I think is funny, but nobody else does.
Point well made that is indeed what most of us do in our Walter Mitty lives. Nicely done
