The Highest Tide

Kurt Philip Behm

Life is all about leverage

both overt and implied

To move the world ever forward

and sail the highest tide

Subtle it nudges intention

exerted our missteps reclaimed

It magnifies every action

— restoking fortuity’s flame

*********

Freeing The Verse

To have a poem

but not the words

To bring the message

home

Intention firm

and feelings clear

But silence

sits the throne

Awaiting vowels and consonants

regifted from a sage

A marble block of verbiage

to sculpt upon the page

And once each phrase has taken form

it’s wed to feelings true

To free the verse that faithful waits

— unheard inside of you

Nicely written my friend and although the second (Free Verse) is quite good my choice remains with the first (I assume it is The highest tide)

  • Kurt Philip Behm

It is, and I thank you again.

Thoroughly enjoyed, Kurt. Twice now and probably with more to come. 🕊️🙏

Kurt, what a pair of poems. The Highest Tide reflects on the forces that move us forward, while Freeing The Verse turns inward toward the creative struggle itself. Of the two, that image of the waiting poem resonates deeply with me...the sense that something true is already there, patiently awaiting release. Excellent write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
