My Sons

Anthony Hanible

You arrived

Quiet at first

Then suddenly everywhere

You taught my hands

How to hold something

I never want to lose

You walk

And the world shifts

You laugh

And the dark folds back

I see the man you’ll be

Glowing inside the boy you are

A small flame

Already learning

How to burn steady

If life ever shakes you

Remember this truth

You were loved

Before you ever spoke

And you’ll be loved

Long after I’m gone

My sons

My echos

My beginning again

The heart of a father (or mother) displayed in this poem. I have been there and the feeling is well described in this quiet poem of love. Well written my friend. A fave
