Pearls and Jellyfish

 

When you gaze into her eyes,
driven by the desire to harvest the pearl of your own ideals,
you take the plunge into the sea;
unaware that the sea
does not only nurture pearls,
but also sea urchins
and jellyfish.

 

 

مروارید و عروس دریایی

 

،چون در چشمانش خیره می‌شوی
،به سودای صیدِ مرواریدِ آرمانِ خویش
دل به دریا می‌زنی؛
غافل از آن‌که دریا
،نه تنها مروارید
که توتیای دریایی
و عروسِ دریایی نیز
.می‌پرورد

      Yes, the sharks would have fit right in too; they are always somewhere beneath the surface, even when they do not make it into the poem.
