WORDS IN THE AIR / PALABRAS EN EL AIRE

Carlos Alberto BUSTILLOS

WORDS IN THE AIR

Poems, like ships,
ships that sail,
on the internet, on waves.

Verses in bottles,
cast out for everyone,
gifts from my days.

Hope turned into letters,
seeking lovers,
lovers of poems.

Small works,
simple words,
to fly far away,
to be read.

In the freedom
of being nothing,
and belonging to all,
poems in bottles.

Words thrown into the air,
those small shreds,
patches of my life,
that wait for love,
even if I do not go on,
perhaps they will go on,
and live within others.

Those gifts of mine,
waiting in others,
transmuted into air,
to enter into you,
to live again,
in the life that is born
in others every day.

PALABRAS EN EL AIRE

Poemas, como barcos,
barcos que navegan,
en internet, en ondas.

Versos en botellas,
lanzados para todos,
regalos de mis días.

Esperanza en letras,
buscando amantes,
amantes de poemas.

Pequeñas obras,
sencillas palabras,
para volar lejos,
para ser leídas.

En la libertad,
de no ser nada,
y de ser de todos,
poemas en botellas.

Palabras lanzadas al aire,
esos pequeños jirones,
retales de mi vida,
que esperan amor,
aunque no siga,
quizás ellos sigan,
y vivan en otros,

Esos regalos míos.
esperando en otros,
transmutados en aire,
para penetrar en ti,
para volver a vivir,
en la vida que nace,
en otros cada día.

A lovely message with which I can identify. If even one person can be affected by one line of one poem then the writing is worth while. I believe that most feel the same. Nicely composed it sends a powerful message. Well written and a fave

Even if the wind were to carry away everything we once were, the goodness we wished for others will always remain in the past.

Carlos, this warmed my heart, my friend. There is something beautiful about the faith this poem places in words...the belief that they can travel beyond us and find a home somewhere we may never see. A lovely piece. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Faith in the idea that beautiful words can transform the world into something better is the miracle of moving mountains with the soul.

Thank you very much for reading those words that are cast out into the world, waiting to be caught.

I like this feature that the poem uses an extended metaphor of messages in bottles to show how poetry travels from the poet to readers and continues to live in their hearts and minds.

Thank you very much for picking up the message from one of those bottles I throw into the world to be read.

You are welcome. I like your witty reply. Thank you for sending it into the world in the first place.
