God's Theme Park Ride

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

Tied to their reigns through every season,

Unsure that this realm is really freedom.

Choice to make decisions, good or bad,

Manmade laws, God is our overall dad.

Can we fight a future what's predetermined?

Everything is falling apart, mind been vermined.

I made up a word that doesn't even exist,

Scandals and filth, rotting through the mist.

Misfortune, family curses and funeral herses,

Society crumbling apart, mental health nurses.

Feels like certain things are done on purpose,

Pure righteousness is coming, don't be nervous.

Know that hope can't be found in a pint glass,

Intoxication, sorry but that's now a hard pass.

Blackouts, spirits, arguments and aggression,

Beer tap turned off, learnt an important lesson.

My harshest critic, holding judgement on myself,

Atoned for sins are being placed on a high shelf.

Told to please stop speaking about spiritual stuff,

Never said that acceptance wouldn't be rough.

Diluted my personality, was still pushed aside,

Strapped in and seated, on God's theme park ride.

Now I know why I keep feeling like I'm going around in circles. I'm on the merry-go-round of life. Nicely written

Shaun, there is a lot of hard-earned experience packed into this one, my friend. What struck me most is the sense of someone taking stock of where they've been, what they've lost, and what they've learned along the way. Thoughtful write. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
