The bin collection
Due today
School children
Make their way
Past the flags
That move in wind
The sleeping patriots
Enthusiasm dimmed.
The riots teeth
Now in a jar
Smouldering cars
Glass everywhere
The local dealer
Counts his share
Of whipped up hatred
Quite bizzare.
The minority thugs
Sleep off the drink
Lager cans
Fill the street
The flags now bear
A badge of shame
This surely not
In our name.

A sad and sorry plight, truly. A moving read, my friend 🕊️🙏🏻
most kind, thanking you much appreciated
Well written. Your poem addresses themes of patriotism, social decay, and the consequences of collective actions in a community. It paints a vivid picture of a place where national pride is marred by violence and hatred, raising questions about the true meaning of patriotism and the impact of societal behaviors on the image of a community.
spot on, thanks for read always much appreciated
There's a riot cos of no bus turning up! lol.
bus stop riots are infamous lol
Hi Norman, I wholeheartedly agree with this piece. Hit the nail on the head. You'd probably enjoy my latest regarding Farage.
Well written - Syd
thanks for read, I will take a look
Norman, what a powerful piece. The contrast between everyday scenes and the aftermath of destruction gives this real weight. What stays with me is that final sense of ownership...or rather the refusal to claim what has been done in one's name. That lands hard. Excellent write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
thanking you, always very much appreciated, your summary hit the nail on the head my friend
Do you and me know
What`s really going on?
Shenanigans
Thats a good question, the answer lies in each persons perspective and belief
Indeed it does. In the end, Who benefits? I`d hazard a guess that it`s neither the "locals" or the "immigrants." Just sayin....
only the rich benefit, as always, playing both for their own means. The uk doesnt pay decent enough wages and governments subsidize business so that is always the case that the workers lose out
💯
