Do you know how hard it is
To be your own closest friend
When despite how hard you try
You hate yourself?
When the circle you drew collapses
And buries you beneath it,
Who’s left to remind you to breathe
And to dig you out of the ruins
When the burden that’s too much
For one to carry on their own
Piece by piece
is handed back to you
When you’re crushed by the weight
Of your own voice returning
In a silence stretched too long
All there’s left to do is hope the walls hold overnight
when you hate your best friend
But your best friend is you
How long do you dig
Before you let the ruins take you?
