Listen!
Everything speaks.
All things communicate
but only she who hears with
the heart can distinguish mayhem
from melody, the word in the whirlwind.
I tried to listen
but the noise of my mind
clattered and clanked, a competitive
challenge to the whispered word of deeper
insight, wisdom beyond knowledge, revelation.
Horns and
"Hi, there!" and hallelujahs
and "How are you today?" fill the
empty spaces where soul speak could
exist, but only on its own terms, only when
I value
what you have to say more
than my right to be heard, more
than my fear of silence, more than the
urgency of my agenda; only then do I truly listen
and finally,
hear.
