Just Glad to be Alive

Michael A. McGuire

I stepped out into the World today
and gave it everything I had; and
although my performance was rather
lacking in style, I really don't feel
half bad!

Because I wasn't added to the ever-growing
death toll or held hostage by terrorists on
some plane. No, I was one of the lucky ones;
not plastered all over the media and posthumously
granted instant fame!

I made it to work without getting in a wreck
and I even made it there on time; so if our world
leaders decide not to blow us to bits, I might just
make it back home alive!

My needs are not elaborate. Love and
friendship, for me, will do. I just hope
you feel the same.

If so, tonight when you're alone, you'll
thank God to still be alive and for the World not
claiming you!

A poem of gratitude that speaks of acknowledging all the things we have to be grateful for. Very nicely written
