You think you know me
You give a name and a trait
You add humour and stupidity,
Maybe a memory or birthdate
But if we had ever been friends
I'd have told you I had few plans
I'd grab your arm in my hands
And lead you far to man's land
And no one will see us again
So grab your coat
And leave a note
Let's leave our old lives behind
Even if for just a little time
Let's be kids once again
Let's talk about how the world began
Talk about death and stars
And questions that have no end
Let's paint even if we're both bad at it
Let's read our books and talk about it
Let's make lame jokes and laugh at them
Let's bake burnt cookies and still eat them
Let's put flowers in each others hair
You won't act like I'm too much to bear
Let's play cards on the floor
I'd tell you facts you didn't know
If only we'd been friends
I'll hear all about your favorite show
Don't ask cause I'll always wanna know
Let's sit on swings and see who goes higher
Let's talk till we've pulled all nighters
If only you knew me
Would you run away with me?
Let's go far away
No map no plan
Let's take the next train
Head to no man's land
And no one will see us again...
If only we'd been friends...
