Hush Slushies

Tristan Robert Lange

Notice of absence from Tristan Robert Lange
Life is full of seasons. This is a season of transition for me, where I will be moving with my family to a new location. As such, with much logistics to consider, I am doing my best to keep up. Please know if I accidentally don't respond, it is not because I am ghosting or becoming distant. Once things settle after the move, I am sure life will return to some normalcy. In the meantime, and always:

Read 👓, Write ✍️, Rise 🌅, Realize 🤯.

Tristan 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
adjectives can be slushy
like hush puppies
and ice in a blender—

no contender—

shit goes down thick.
listen up

prick

your finger
stick.
blood drips,

it drops,
everything pops,
better swap the mop.

been down on up street,
chopped liver paté

a third life labeled gay,
a third labeled straight,
a third labeled stray,
the rest named pray.

who wants to stay?

not this gal!
you hear me, pal?

demeaned—
forced to sit
in between

chili con carne
and macho
supreme.

SEASONS, a psychedelic musical journey, has been released.
If you enjoy my writing, I'd love for you to check out my new album, Seasons, for FREE as well as on my Bandcamp. You may recognize songs such as Shifting Spring and Summer Storm, both which were soft released here earlier this spring and last summer, respectively.

This music is offered without a paywall. If it speaks to you, take it. If you'd like to support my work, you are welcome to pay whatever you feel it is worth. My hope is not simply to sell music, but to share it. I would rather these pieces be heard than hidden behind a price.

If you enjoy it, please consider sharing it with someone who might as well. Word of mouth is the greatest gift an independent artist can receive.

I do like chili con carne but not from a can. Home made please and the same with sexual orientation not from a can please, birthed from a homemade recipe is the only way to go. Great write and most interesting metaphor my friend.

😂 Thank you so much, Soren! I love your "not from a can please" image. 🤣 That's exactly the kind of neatly packaged thinking this poem is pushing back against. Life is simply too rich and too human to fit inside somebody else's label. Always appreciate you, my friend! 🌈🩷🙏🛒

My pleasure Tristan I am a non additive, all natural, home grown and cooked kind of guy

That's art that is, that pic - probably worth millions of pounds (UK) / dollars (US). Mr P Solus said it would be worth even more if they were cans of spinach - empty ones of course as he will have glugged them all. lol.

        • Tristan Robert Lange

😂🤣 Orchi, now that would certainly raise the value! The only problem is Mr. P. Solus would never leave enough spinach in the cans for the gallery opening. 🤣 Thanks for the laugh, my friend! 🌈🩷🙏🛒

Well expressed, your poem's informal tone suggests a personal narrative, you readers to connect with the poet's frustrations and desires for authenticity and freedom. Ultimately, the poem serves as a commentary on the complexity of identity in a world that often seeks to simplify and categorize individuals.

          • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, Friendship. 😊 I'm really glad that sense of authenticity came through for you. That's something I wanted to preserve, even with all the oddball imagery. I truly appreciate your thoughtful reflections, my friend! 🌈🩷🙏🛒

Pray straight, stray gay, condense them together, the vicar's doing cartwheels.
This is why Alians get confused when they visit earth, and why I buy packet soup now.

            • Tristan Robert Lange

😂🤣 Paul, I think you've just explained first contact better than any sci-fi writer. The aliens would take one look, quietly get back in the spaceship, and leave us to our packet soup. 🤣 Thanks for the laugh, my friend! 🌈🩷🙏🛒

Quite the inspiring piece, Tittu 🙏🕊️

              • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, arqios! 😊 I'm really glad this one spoke to you. That means a lot to me, my friend! 🌈🩷🙏🛒
