A cap with a bill, snug and round,
It’s seen on boys all over town.
Through alley, street, and market lane,
It shields from sun, from wind, from rain.
The fabric soft, yet shaped with pride,
It tilts a wink when worn aside.
A thousand stories it could tell,
Of morning papers, late-night bell.
From cobblestone to bustling square,
It rides the breeze and tousles hair.
A humble crown for work and play,
It marks the wearer’s lively day.

- Comment from author about the poem: The newsboy cap, also known as the newsie cap, Gatsby, jeff cap, or baker boy hat, is a casual-wear cap similar in style to the flat cap. For more context, visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsboy_cap

A poetic write of how an element of clothing becomes a marker of who one is. It speaks to our identity with clothing and maybe more. Nicely written Matthew
