Michelangelo's pieta in flirence

alan b

Unable to bear his suffering

Embracing Christ's heavy

Dead body

Limbs

Twisted awkwardly

Body collapsing

Flesh

Ragged and heavy

Broken people

Clinging to christ

Almost blind

Working in the dead of night

A burning candle above his forehead

Stuck on a cardboard cap

Smashing Christ's arm and leg

Sculpted for his tomb

Retreating into the shadows of his self

Mary

Buried beneath her robes

An agonized broken mother

Slowly sinking

Into stone
