A Cathartic Transcendence

bliss

A catastrophic storm

Colored by the lilac veins of lightning.

A cacophony of mourning vultures

Circling over the remains of the living.

A moment of crescendo

Touched the depths of prolonged contemplation.

A sense of catharsis

Entailing the conclusion of a vicious spiral.

A culmination of manifestoes

Guiding my cauterising soul to a higher haven.

Clauditur et aperitur.

  • Comment from author about the poem: For this poem, I had a weird obsession with the letter ‘c’ 😂😂That’s why each line has at least one word starting from c. The theme of the poem is transformation. It reminds me of the saying: “It gets worse before it gets better.” Meaning of the poem 🤍✨There’s a life-altering turmoil in your life. The mourning vultures symbolise the solemn end of an era, which leaves the survivors of this destruction in a state even worse than death itself. All of this reaches a peak or, in other words, a crescendo. this leads to an epiphany. In one mere moment, you are released from the pain. A repetitive chapter in your life has finally come to an end. Everything you ever believed in is guiding your defeated soul to a peaceful place. The last line of the poem is a Latin phrase (also, the first time that I’ve incorporated a foreign language in one of my poems) which translates to: “It is closed and it is opened.” I chose this phrase to conclude my poem as it perfectly encapsulates the core theme. It’s about endings and beginnings. A journey of destruction can lead to eventual healing.
