They heard today a son had died
Not from sickness or disease
But unexpected suicide
Anxiety festering by degrees
He was a handsome gifted chap
With many friends and good career
So, none could sense his handicap
Hence motives will remain unclear
It’s sad to die at any time
But before one’s parents truly sad
And at a time when in his prime
Such wretched news for mum and dad
Who knows the troubles of the mind
What latent turmoil left unsaid
His reasons we will never find
Too late to share when we are dead
