The Divine Divide

freyaaa

Is God there?
Does he hear someone,
will he choose to hear someone
who has sinned so much
against him?

Lord, why is life so cruel
when you promise happiness?
How do I believe
in someone, something
I cannot see?

How do I have faith
in the promises of salvation—
yet one mistake,
and I end up burning, screaming
in eternal damnation?

You never read the small print.
Salvation must be earned if you want to enter heaven.
Now don't worry if the fanatics get a seat beside you, we're all gods children.
    Purple rain, classic.

A poem that speaks of a belief that somehow doesn't seem fair. It is a questioning poem that casts a doubt. Well written

Freyaaa, what a heartfelt piece. I appreciate that you don’t pretend certainty where there isn’t any. Instead, you allow the questions to stand on their own, and I think that honesty is something many readers, and people of faith, will recognize in themselves. Beautiful work, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

My Dear Santa clause whimsy princess this is such a real poem and it’s nice to see someone ask questions about it instead of just accepting it and not knowing about it
