METAMORFOSIS

Carlos Alberto BUSTILLOS

That 'dead beauty of alabaster' has the name of Aldonza de Mendoza."

METAMORPHOSIS

I have come from my own feast,
I have wept, admired beauty,
dead beauty of alabaster.
I have wept with such beauty,
I have seen eternal wonders,
fragile remains of geniuses.
I have returned to my life, fatigued,
for my body is in flames,
I burn everywhere, weary.
And I remembered the sculpted beauty,
I sat down, and I rose from my body.
Only the memories of a feast remain,
that excursion which is all my little feast;
with anything, I rise from the ground, and I leave.
And the memory of a sculpted woman will remain,
a reminder that I can fall in love
with someone beautiful, made of sculpted stone.
I have crossed the boundaries of everything,
I am capable of anything,
even of forgetting myself,
I have fallen in love
with chiseled
beauty.

METAMORFOSIS

He venido de mi propia fiesta,
he llorado, admirada belleza,
belleza de alabastro muerta.
He llorado con tanta belleza,
he visto maravillas eternas,
frágiles restos de los genios.
He vuelto a mi vida, fatigado,
ya que mi cuerpo está en llamas,
ardo por todas partes, cansado.
Y he recordado la belleza esculpida,
me he sentado y me elevé del cuerpo.
Solo quedan los recuerdos de una fiesta,
esa excursión que es toda mi fiesta pequeña;
hasta de olvidarme de mí;
me he enamorado
de la belleza
cincelada.

    A beautiful poem that has meaning that goes deep into metaphor of loving stone beauty. Well done Carlos

    Carlos, what a beautiful meditation on art and memory. I love how the poem begins with an encounter and ends with a transformation. The sculpture becomes more than an object…it becomes something that reshapes the heart of the observer. I found that deeply moving. Wonderful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

    I once had a feeling similar for a marble woman. Her image remained even after I moved and no longer had access.

    I want to also thank you for the presentation of the 'AI Short film' which left me somewhat hypnotised. I now wonder if my nightly dreams will ever be quite the same again. I have my reservations with respect to AI, which you can find spread across my verses, but here....
