I never thought
My future was
Covered in gray,
Black, and blue
Then the question
I heard my most my life
“What would you say
to your younger self?”
I would say
Horrific things
A child would never knew
I would say
“Your worse enemy
Was yourself,
I don’t remember you
And that is good,
You don’t want to
Remember all that was bad”

A sad poem when memories are nightmares. Self esteem must be built not on the foundation of the past but the firm ground of the present. Well written
