Out of sight

sorenbarrett

After the ride he put the torn ticket in his pocket and thought of it no more
Twenty five years latter he cleaned his closet throwing the jacket on the floor
Falling out memories of a love that left him at the bus station
Stained by tears after a life of joy, the darkness of night's separation

a reminder of the past, good write

  • soheil khodaparasti

Beautifully crafted. An ordinary object becomes a vessel for decades of forgotten emotion, a deeply relatable experience. It is a touching meditation on how grief can lie dormant for years, waiting for the smallest forgotten object to bring it rushing back. The emotion feels authentic and earned rather than sentimental.

Good or bad, how quickly can an object instantly take us back to that moment.
One thing I intentionally never do, is return to places that have impacted my life.
You know right off that particular period has gone and the visit just spoils that moment in time.

Thank you Paul for the read and comment. Yes wise advice Paul

I have such used tickets lying around in places hidden from daily view! Some in actual albums to accompany old photos and such. πŸ™πŸ•ŠοΈ

Hi Sorenbarret, it's funny how certain things can take you back. For me it's usually music that triggers memories. An enjoyable and relatable piece.

                Well written - Syd πŸ„

Beautiful. I loved that it was short - the reason being is that the snappy length really added a certain weight and unconscious relatability to that awful snap-like realisation when you come across something that triggers such powerful memories and feelings. Well done

Soren, what a touching piece. The passage of twenty-five years makes the rediscovery of that ticket all the more powerful, and the ending carries such quiet heartbreak. Sometimes the smallest keepsakes hold the biggest stories. Wonderful write, my friend. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›
